The boys left me at the dock hunched in
pain. I knew I couldn't handle the seas, so I didn't complain.
I bet they didn't think about me all day
after they left.
One of them will have to write the
report, as it was a very interesting day.
Andy piloted Dave into the path of a
billfish. Some of the guys think it was a longbill spearfish, others think it
was a marlin. I don't have a clue as I have never shot one. I heard they are
great tasting.
I can't believe I missed this trip.

A small sample of the answers we received.
- Without a doubt "Longbill Spearfish" bill is too
long for it to be a "Shortbill Spearfish"
- It is a longbill spearfish, Tetrapturus pfluegeri, the
rarest of the billfish species and is fully protected
(no take). This is a rather large individual for the
species. Note the short, unbroken bill or spear, the
rather high dorsal fin, the sharp pointed anal fin and
the long, slender, very silvery body.
- Longbill Spearfish
- small Sailfish
- Longbill - It's top bill is just twice the length of the
lower.
- Canadian Spring Breaker
- white marlin
- I would need to sample a taste to make positive
identification.
- Longbill for sure
